Africom achieves regional partnership with world leader
Africom, Zimbabwes leading data solution provider has
been certified a Premier Partner by Cisco Systems, the worldwide
leader in networking for the Internet.
In a message to Africom, which recently established the first
privately owned public data telecommunications network in
Zimbabwe, the Cisco Channel certification Team said Africom
had met all personnel and support requirements for achieving
Cisco Premier certification.
Your company has demonstrated that it is qualified
to sell install and support Cisco solutions in SADC(Southern
Africa Development Community), the Cisco team said,
adding that Africom would be identified as a Premier Certified
Partner of Cisco in the Cisco partner Locator on the Cisco
website.
A premier partner has access to Ciscos vast experience
as a world Leader in networking, which is in turn passed onto
Africom customers. Customers also benefit from continual training
that is afforded premier partners as well as a robust support
infrastructure, which includes Internet based troubleshooting
of network equipment such as switches.
Premier partners also procure directly from Cisco and receive
price concessions, which as Africom, we pass on to our customers.
Cisco Systems, which is a United States based company,
is a leader in worldwide networking for the Internet. The
company is known for industry leading products in the core
areas of routing and switching as well as advanced technologies
in a number of networking fields.
To achieve Cisco Premier Partnership certification, Africoms
engineers and sales team had to go through specific rigorous
training and testing..
Cisco is one of our chief technology partners in our
business. Africom corporate communications office Nobesutu
Nduku said, adding that a large percentage of the networking
equipment that Africom uses comes from Cisco.
The certification confirms that Cisco is satisfied
Africom has staff who are qualified and able to deliver service
of an international standard to its customers, she
said.
Africoms area of specialization is in switching and
routing technology, a critical area in the development and
deployment of modern data networking solutions.
Nduku said not the certification not only confirmed that
Africom was able to install, service and repair Cisco equipment
but also give Africom access to a wealth of information on
Cisco equipment and developments in the industry.
She said Cisco partners had to keep abreast of technological
developments and new products Cisco was continually developing.
They were required to be re-certified annually and so had
to make sure they were up to date in their knowledge of Cisco
products and were moving as fast as the industry.
