Africom Launches a User Group
Telecommuting with Albert Chinamano
User Groups are a great way to share information, meet other
professionals, and network with peers. We have witnessed a
number of Info-Communications Technology conglomerates creating
user groups worldwide, and recently Africom mooted the idea
of having an Africom User Group, a first of its kind in Zimbabwe.
An inaugural meeting was held at the company premises at Tendeseka
Office Park in Eastlea to launch the User Group. The inaugural
meeting was designed to "break the ice" and set
the stage for the groups future.
AUG's mission is to provide the ICT community with leadership
and information exchange to enable the development and effective
use of Africom networking services in achieving the business
and enhance customer relationships.
To introduce the program to its customers, Africom hosted
the AUG inaugural meeting at its offices at Tendeseka Office
Park in Eastlea. During the function a committee was selected
to run the affairs of the group. The event gave AUG members
an opportunity to meet other faces in the industry and share
experiences, learn technical solutions, and to provide feedback
to Africom on existing and future products. The user group
will enable users to share information and learn how to get
even more technical productivity from the company's high-performance
networking.
Apart from learning and sharing Africom experiences the members
of the user group will have the opportunity have vendor technology
updates. The presentations will cover any issues that the
members feel are of importance to them.
The User Group will help customers establish and nurture
a global community of like-minded professionals, and will
give Africom an opportunity to integrate even closer to our
customer base. Africom users need to come out and meet each
other and find out they're not alone. AUG is a free user group
designed to educate current and prospective Africom users
about the value of Africom's networking solutions and Africom
partner initiatives, with the opportunity to exchange information,
networking tips, and best practices
In the near future, Africom will debut a special user group
Web site with additional e details and allowing customers
to register online to become members conference and submit
proposals for papers to be presented.
As the User Group solidifies in the coming months, the site
will serve as the portal for member registration, for information
collection, coordination, and dissemination, and for fostering
an online community.
Together, we will develop the AUG into a strong and active
community, where users can learn more about Africom, as well
as leverage the expertise all the members will bring with
them. It's an excellent forum to gain insight into what enterprises
are concerned with today, and how they are solving their business
problems with technology.
The user group was born out of the realization that Africom
user population has increased tremendously, and both Africom
and customers saw a need for this type of user group to offer
an environment where our customers can impartially share their
Africom experiences with other Africom users.
