Africom presents at an International Operators Forum
Africom Chief Operating Officer, Paul Chiobvu was recently invited to present at an Alvarion Operators Forum held in Cape Town. This Forum is an annual event which brings together the internationally recognized ICT champions. Mr Chiobvu proudly lifted the Zimbabwean flag as he shared the history of information communication technology in Zimbabwe. In his presentation Mr Chiobvu highlighted that Africom has built Public Data Network infrastructure following its licensing that occurred in 2000. The Africom Public Data Network infrastructure has facilitated communication amongst various sectors of the economy including the Government, NGO, the Private sector e.t.c.
In line with its vision of becoming the continental leader in stimulating economic growth through ICT solutions in Africa, Africom has extended its services to other countries in the region which include Botswana and Zambia. Throughout the years Africom have scored first in many instances, having established the then longest wireless link in 1997 and have recently linked up 5 towns in Zambia using broadband wireless access. The value that Africom has added to the nation and the region is immeasurable.
The recognition that Africom is receiving is really commendable as it is set to position our nation highly.
