About Afritell
- Afritell is a unique public private sector partnership
formed between Powertel, Transmedia and Africom to offer
basic telecommunications service to rural and urban underserved
areas.
- Afritell brings together Africom (Pvt) Ltd and Powertel
Communications' data networks with Transmedia's broadcasting
transmission networks to operate a fixed telephone network
in Zimbabwe.
- Afritell integrates excess, idle capacity from existing
infrastructure from the three companies and intends roll
out a telecommunications network comprising satellite, wireless
and fibre optic technologies to offer affordable telephony
solutions to rural and urban underserved areas and other
geographically inaccessible areas.
