In
year 2002 Africom took a deliberate step to resuscitate the game of golf
in the country after many clubs closed down due to various reasons that
included lack of sponsorship. Africom commissioned the US70, 000 Africom
Classic National Golf Tournament to resuscitate the sport under the
company's corporate responsibility portfolio.
It was a memorableevent when the announcement was made by the Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Golf Openthat Africom will be the title sponsor for the Zimbabwe Open Golf Tournament2010.
